"GEAR UP has been a gateway for increasing parent and community involvement in our schools," says Majalise Tolan, principal of Taft 7-12 in Lincoln City.

 

Schools offer a wide range of workshops, activities and support for students during College Application Week in order to help them prepare for life after high school.

 

A graduate of Brookings-Harbor High School, Morgan Early is on her way to becoming a natural resource attorney at George Fox University.

 

Jennifer Hodges works with the "best team ever" implementing GEAR UP and a college-going culture at Ponderosa Middle School and Klamath Union High School in Klamath Falls.

 

Roseburg High School welcomed students and parents, especially incoming freshman, for an evening event designed to highlight student work and opportunities to get involved.

For National GEAR UP Week we asked educators, students, partners and staff to describe GEAR UP in one word.

 

Almost 350 students and educators experienced three days of learning and fun at Oregon State University in August.

 

In conjunction with Oregon Private College Week, Oregon GEAR UP and The Alliance hosted a one-week summer program for rural, low-income students to explore educational opportunities available at private, nonprofit colleges across the state.

 

Oregon was in the spotlight amidst the 1,800 attendees of the 2015 National GEAR UP Conference in San Francisco.
