The Oregon GEAR UP newsletter comes out every Wednesday during the school year. Information is geared towards educators and college access professionals with updates on recent news and research as well as upcoming scholarships, professional development opportunities, and other important dates.
College checklists and additional information for educators, students and families as well as events to support seniors on the path to college: College Application Week, College Cash Campaign and Decision Day.
Bring GEAR UP to your school! We will be conducting research during the 2017-18 school year to see if we can scale our model of school culture change to serve more schools. Oregon schools are invited to join GEAR UP as affiliate sites, who will implement the GEAR UP model and resources to develop and maintain a college-going culture in their communities. In exchange for additional support and structure from Oregon GEAR UP, affiliate schools will provide data in the form of administrator questionnaires (one pre- and one post-intervention) and student & educator surveys. Learn more and apply by July 1.
Oregon schools may apply for matching funds up to $750/visit for school field trips to college campuses and college fairs. Funds may be used for transportation, substitutes for teachers attending the field trip, meals, or other expenses. Schools will be reimbursed after the visit. Funds are first-come, first-served, with priority given to GEAR UP Affiliate schools. Applications for 2016-17 are closed.
