The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Oregon GEAR UP $2.6 million a year for seven years in order to continue college readiness initiatives in low-income middle and high schools.
In partnership with Oregon State University's Office of Precollege Programs, college students will virtually connect with Oregon GEAR UP classrooms providing mentoring support and a bridge to postsecondary education.
GEAR UP students spent a week at Oregon State University doing hands-on activities, bonding with college mentors, and learning how to be a successful college student.
