- Oregon Goes To College
GEAR UP staff, school coordinators and administrators and two students travelled to Washington D.C. for the annual gathering of GEAR UP programs from across the country. Educators chose from over 100 sessions to sharpen their skills while the students bolstered their confidence at the Youth Leadership Summit, in addition to sharing the impact of GEAR UP with Oregon legislators and aides.
Rising seniors visited 7 private colleges in Oregon as well as attended workshops about the college application process during a one-week summer program. 100% of attendees would recommend the camp to their classmates!
Middle and high school educators spent four days collaborating with writing and math faculty from two-year and four-year colleges across the state. Participants examined and developed instructional solutions that will improve the college readiness of secondary-level students.
100+ middle and high school students. 10 college student mentors. 3 days. Too many experiences to count! Our always popular Student Leadership Event, once again hosted by Seeds Training, gave students the opportunity to practice team building, communication skills, leadership and much more.
