Campus visit to NCU for educators

Oregon GEAR UP and The Oregon Alliance of Independent Colleges and Universities (The Alliance) believe that students are most successful in reaching their postsecondary goals when they attend “good fit” colleges and universities. Therefore, we’re partnering to ensure students have access to information about all of Oregon’s higher education options. One key way we’ll do that is to provide opportunities for district and school-level staff and college personnel to develop a mutual understanding of each other’s communities, challenges, and strengths. Hosted campus visits will include tours and information sessions about admissions and financial aid, as well as facilitated discussions with faculty and student services staff. Secondary school staff will learn what resources and opportunities Oregon’s private, not-for-profit colleges can offer your students, as well as the expectations for academic preparation that colleges have of entering students. College personnel will learn about your communities, schools, and students with an eye toward reading their admission applications in context and developing an understanding of how best to serve your graduates.

GEAR UP will reimburse districts for mileage. When necessary, GEAR UP will reimburse for lodging and subs.

The Alliance member colleges will host GEAR UP team members for campus visits several times throughout the grant period. We strongly encourage you to ensure that a representative from your school visit each college or university at least once. Use the table below to outline your visit schedule plans.
