This year’s Summer Institute is a 2-day event, held from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm each day.

The Parent Institute for Quality Education will provide a seminar on Best Practices for Effective Parent Engagement Strategies. The session is designed to not only engage participants actively during the workshops, but to provide them with research-based strategies that significantly increases effective parent engagement. Topics covered will include: obstacles to parent engagement with diverse communities, research-based practices, effective recruitment and retention strategies, lesson planning and sequencing for parent programs, quality control protocols, and different types of parent engagement and their impact on student achievement.

GEAR UP will provide:

  • Lodging the nights of July 31 and August 1 at the Holiday Inn Express in Eugene
  • A $400 stipend for participation for two days
  • Breakfast and lunch on August 1 and 2
