GEAR UP Works
A study shows that for the 2008-14 cohort of schools, GEAR UP participation had a significant positive impact on the college enrollment rate, for both immediate college enrollment and delayed college enrollment when compared to a comparison group.
In addition, recent evaluations find that Oregon GEAR UP has played an instrumental role in promoting a college-going culture, including increasing students' expectations for postsecondary education. Results also indicate a positive correlation between participation in GEAR UP-related activities and positive perceptions about college affordability.
